Hey, Heather, we haven't drowned yet. We're going to build a raft. I found a hammer.

Henry had never been a boy scout. He hadn't taken a shop class either. The scrapes and cuts of his boyhood all came from not watching where he was going, the neighbor's cat, or x-acto knvies the other art kids left laying around at college. He stood there on the hotel roof looking at the bilboard bits and passing the hammer he'd found from one hand to the other. How the hell was he supposed to even start this? They didn't have blueprints or anything.

"Mr. Mason is there a flashlight I can hold?"

He was good at holding things! He was the best holder.

"No...I don't think so. We'll have to make do without. Is there any rope over there?"

"I think so." Henry made another trip and returned with thick rope draped over his noodly arms. "What are we going to do if the water doesn't stop rising?"

Henry held the light as Harry worked. What would they do when they ran out of ground? He wasn't the best swimmer. He'd dealt with rain plenty of times, but with so much wreckage floating around and so much distress in the air, he couldn't help but think of that terrible flooded cylinder he'd done battle in.

He felt so stupid. Everything was reminding him of his Worst Day Ever lately. Everything.

"Let me prop that up for you."
