_{[Wherever Henry is, it's dark. The first thing the 'gear's camera sees is the dim light pouring out of the Ecruteak PokeMart's windows. Henry is sitting on the little walk right outside it and sorting through a bag of odds and ends like potions and pokemon snacks. Off to the side is Clam, the Shellder.]

[The 'gear eventually points at it. Henry's name is still Sharpie'd onto its shell. The pokemon's shell is sealed up tight and it isn't moving.]

[When Henry speaks, his voice is lower than it usually is.]}

Is there a way to tell if your pokemon's dead or not? Clam hasn't moved in...in a while.

_{[And neither has Henry seeing as he's out alone in the middle of the night.]}

I have never heard of a Pokemon that can die in this world, but can you check if your Pokemon is breathing?

_{[Henry considers that. Well. That explained why he couldn't kill those bugs that attacked him several towns ago. 8[ THAT WAS KIND OF HORRIFYING.]

[He picks up Clam awkwardly and presses an ear against his shell.]}

It's hard to tell. I'm not sure it has a mouth.

Then I suggest to head over to the Pokemon Centre and ask the nurse there. They will most likely have an answer.

When we came into town and everyone healed up in the Center, the nurses never said anything to me...but it's not a bad idea.

Hopefully, Clam will be alright.

Though when is the last time it has been in any water?

_{[Henry's reply is stalled as he checks other messages. When the feed clicks back on, he's walking with Clam tucked under one shoulder.]}

Somebody else mentioned that. There's a pond somewhere around here. Maybe that'll help.

I am a professor of archaeology back in London. I'm afraid it is not a subject that I can teach at the Violet City school though.

We had archaeology at my old college. I never took it though.

It's quite the interesting course, though it might be for everyone. [ Since Layton has actually started off on not caring about it at all, but look at where he is now. ] What have you majored in?

I'm a photography major.

You don't understand. It's followed me since I left new Bark months ago. Even when I ended up in Olivine somehow, it was there, hiding in the edges of my photographs. It probably watched me sleep.

Are you positive that the Hoothoot in Olivine is the same as the one from New Bark Town? They are very common Pokemon around.

[Envy had wound up spending a lot of time around that area due to France's choice of job. He leans towards the screen to watch where Henry is going, because now he wants to know if his plan will work.]

[After getting a little lost since he wasn't completely familiar with the town's layout, Henry finds the little pond.]

[He places Clam at the water's edge and watches. When nothing happens, he nudges the pokemon into the shallows with his foot.]}

[Envy frowns and thinks about this for maybe a few seconds.]

_{[Henry gives Clam a bit more of a 'shove' and it disappears into the little pond with a BLOOP.]

_{[At least now Henry knew he can move! He frowns at the deeper end of the pond. He's not wading all the way out there! God only knew what kind of pokemon lurked in the mud. Were there leech pokemon? Probably.]

When I played the game, there was this city that had a big tower where dead pokemon were kept--like a memorial place. It was sort of like that tower in Violet. You had to fight ghosts or something--but I remember the people saying that they missed their pokemon.

_{[He lets that hang in the air for a bit before turning Clam sideways and looking for cracks in his shell.]}

That place was hard to beat. Maybe he just doesn't like me.

I think I should take him to the Pokemon Center...but the Nurse there never said anything to me when we all healed up once we arrived.

Maybe you should ask her about it specifically. Y'know, the next time we stop by there.

It's some kind of big clam. I haven't actually ever battled with it before. It won't come out of its shell.

_{[Henry stares at Ironhide, still with Clam pressed to the side of his head, for a long moment.]

I almost forgot you were a space robot. They must not have clams in robot space.

Well, they look like my Shellder, but they're a lot smaller and people usually eat them. There's supposed to be a-- a little slug thing inside.

[Ironhide stares back, his expression blank, until Henry starts explaining.]

Why... would you eat something like that? It looks disgusting.

I think they look gross too. I've never eaten one.

_{[He doesn't wanna eat Clam. He just wants to be his frieeeend 8c]}

_{[Because the space robot might have deep space knowledge even if he doesn't know what clams or rabies are.]

[Henry looks up and down the way before looking Clam in...what he assumes is its face and forming a half-baked scowl.]}
